Counselling and Coaching Services

What is the Difference Between Counselling and Coaching?

Counselling focuses on exploring and coming to terms with the past, to better understand our wounds and in turn to develop adaptive behaviours and strategies for managing our emotions and living more comfortably in the world.

Coaching, by contrast, focuses on the present and future, allowing us to establish greater clarity around our context, our values and goals, and to craft a compelling path forward, with the benefit of objective support and accountability provided by a trained professional.

There is some overlap between these two modalities, but they are fundamentally distinct. That said, my counselling contains elements of coaching, and vice-versa. I believe that the end goal of both styles is to make life better, and this requires a creative and adaptive approach.

***I also strongly believe that counselling and coaching should be more widely available - and not just for the rich - so, while I must meet my own needs, I take pride in offering rates below the industry average, with limited sliding-scale opportunities available. Coaching

In my work as a coach, I follow my passion and expertise by focusing on two main areas:

Post-Traumatic Growth

The work of healing from trauma can be exhausting. It can leave us feeling behind in life and disconnected from the world. But once we have achieved a certain amount of healing, our task becomes to rebuild what has been lost, to look towards the future and begin shaping a life rich with meaning and fulfillment.

This is a challenging process, even at the best of times, and there is immense value in seeking support, guidance and accountability from a trained professional. I owe much of my own progress to my work with coaches, and am privileged to be able to step up to the plate in service of those on the path from trauma to a deeply beautiful life.

Sustainable Living

So many of us are overwhelmed by the burden of living in an age of ecological and socioeconomic collapse, and can so easily fall into despair at recognizing our limited capacity to confront these global issues as individuals.

Fortunately, we are not in fact powerless. There are countless ways in which we are able to rewrite our stories and adapt our lives to these pressing realities, and to grow our efficacy by leaning into community and a life aligned with nature.

As a certified permaculturalist and coach, I help people to cut through the overwhelm and confusion, to cultivate lifestyles that are both personally nourishing and supportive of ecological regeneration and sustainability.

Sessions are 60 minutes long, and are scheduled to suit the unique goals and requirements of each individual client. All questions are welcome, here.
